Over the last decade, Hana Shimada has exhibited and worked in Japan and Australia. She continues a design practice that focuses on the production of logos, record sleeves and posters.
She has worked with artists and projects including The Bon Scott Project (FAC), Lanfranchi’s Memorial Discoteque, Marrickville Jelly Wrestling Federation (MJWF), Great Antonio Pro-Wrestling store (Tokyo), The Poetry of Sex (Tokyo), Jimmy Sing’s Record Stand, Bang Gang 12 Inches, Architecture In Helsinki and Hard Party.
Constructed from collected imagery, sound, notes and quotes, The Hana Shimada Show - her first solo exhibition - employs illustration and typography to pay tribute to a stellar cast of aesthetic fancies and sonic rumbles.
Shimada has shown previously in group shows at MOP and Imperial Slacks.
